Negros Oriental all set for Palarong Pambansa 2013

Last March 1, 2013, DepEd Sec. Bro. Armin Luistro and NEGROS ORIENTAL Gov. Roel Degamo guaranteed that Dumaguete City will be hosting the annual 2013 Palarong Pambansa Sports Competition on April 21 – 27, 2013.  After signing of the  Memorandum of Understanding between the LGU of Negros Oriental and DepEd, Sec. Armin emphasized that athletes will be given top priorities in terms of food, board and lodging on the said event.


Hon. Gov. Roel Degamo pledges that all technical facilities and playing venues are  safe, secure and clean billeting quarters and uninterrupted electricity when the Games begin. “We’ve been waiting for this for 19 years,  finally.” Gov. Degamo said. Negros Oriental has been bidding to host the Palarong Pambansa since 1994 and won it for the first time under Gov. Degamo’s term.

Three (3) Additional Sports Event

According to Asst. Sec. Tonisito Umali, 3 more sports event will be introduce for the first time in Palarong Pambansa. These are the Wushu, Billiards and Futsal.

The sports events played from the previous Palarong Pambansa with its related general and technical guidelines shall remain plus the three (3) additional events were added in accordance to Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) programs.

DepEd expect an approximate of 10,000 athletes, coaches and officials to participate in the week long competition coming from 17 Regions.

Vince Medina will represents NCR at the Palarong Pambansa 2013 Chess Tournament

Meantime, my nephew Vince O. Medina will be representing NCR to compete for the Palarong Pambansa 2013 – Chess Tournament. He also lead FEU Ferns to the recently concluded  2013 UAAP Chess Tournament.
